The emphasis is directed towards the engineering, agronomic and economic aspects of smallholder irrigation. The manual being directed towards the irrigation practitioner does not provide an in-depth analysis of the social, health and environmental aspects. It only attempts to introduce the irrigation practitioner to these areas providing a bridge between the various disciplines involved in irrigation development
