Maire is a 24-year old Tahitian journalism and history/politics graduate of the University of the South Pacific. She is a vivacious young woman with a steady boyfriend, many friends and a close-knit family. She also has AIDS.
Maire is Maire's account of learning she has AIDS, deciding to go public about her HIV status, and dealing with other people's reactions. It is also the stand of a courageous and powerful young Pacific Island woman who has dared to shatter the silence and challenge the myths and fears about HIV and AIDS.
