In this episode, The Pacific Way presents a documentary on a decade-long civil war that ravaged the Papua New Guinea form 1989. Described by some as the most serious and damaging in the South Pacific since the Second World War, an estimated 20,000 people were killed by July 1997. Picking up the Pieces is a story of the resilience of the women of Bougainville, the vital role they played during this decade of terror and their strengh that continues to hold Bougainville together to this day. A shorter story discusses the importance of animal waste management to prevent the contamination of our water systems, which is the main objective of a project by the Animal Health and Production team of the SPC Land Resources Division, based in Suva.
